Research worksheet
Newspaper coverage worksheet
A blank record for tracking newspaper titles, issue access, inspected pages and search steps.
Keep one research check per record
Use one sheet for a newspaper title, edition, issue date and access route. Start with your question and a reasonable event-date window. Make a separate record when you check another repository, product, edition or issue date.
Write down a holding only as the catalogue or repository reports it. Then record separately whether you opened the specific issue and inspected its pages. A reported date range does not confirm that the particular issue opens or that its pages are complete, readable or searchable. If you have not checked a field, write “Not checked”.
For issue-opened status, note “Opened”, “Not opened”, “Not available” or “Not checked”. For pages inspected, note “Inspected”, “Partial”, “Not inspected” or “Not available”. Keep the source wording and your own conclusion in separate fields.
This printable page is a blank template. It does not save or send your research. The CSV download contains a header row only, with no example data.
